...who writes feisty and emotional original music as well as interpreting beloved classics with a unique & fresh perspective.
Her powerfully agile vocals will break your heart before healing it again with a sweetly entrancing croon. Her allure is completed by a compelling storytelling style with thoughtful lyrics and accompanied by tasteful acoustic guitar.
Her sound is like an amalgamation of Adele, Dolores O'Riordan, Norah Jones, Alanis Morisette, and Sara Bareilles.

...she started taking piano lessons at age 6 and loved to sing along with her parents' favorite music like The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and The Beach Boys. She built drum sets out of pots & pans, choreographed dances with friends in the basement and dreamed of singing on a huge stage someday.
She began studying classical violin at age 11, when she also began writing her own original poetry and classical compositions. She loved to improvise on her violin along with movie soundtracks, and sang along to broadway recordings in her bedroom. At age 16 she decided to learn classical viola as well as getting her first acoustic guitar.
Her early contemporary musical inspirations were singer-songwriters like Justin Nozuka, Sara Bareilles & Kalai - along with early-2000's pop-punk & alternative/indie rock bands such as Panic! At The Disco, Evanescence & Muse.
...abroad in Ireland at The D.I.T. Academy of Music, taking courses in classical strings & opera.
She returned to sing in the Women's Chorus at BYU in Provo before moving up to Salt Lake City to continue her violin & viola studies at Salt Lake Community College.
After earning her Associate's Degree, she transferred to The University of Utah where she studied across several music majors in her search for her musical purpose (exploring Classical Strings Performance, Classical Composition, Jazz Composition & Jazz Performance) and played with the Utah Philharmonia Orchestra - before ultimately deciding to leave the traditional classical path to pursue contemporary music & performance.
...Jazz, Blues and Rock & Roll. When she wasn't singing in the weekly jazz and blues jams in local bars, she spent her nights haunting the live music scene, learning from the broad array of musicians & genres and developing her contemporary musical sound.
Laurie Michelle first became known in SLC for performing as a vocalist in Amy Jade's Beehive Society, a 10-piece Big Jazz Band Tribute to Amy Winehouse (Kya Karine, David Halliday).
She also worked with The Stand, a Progressive Rock band (Eric Sopanen, Marty Steinberg) as a vocalist & violinist - which was around the same time she began writing her own original contemporary music for acoustic guitar and vocals.
The last band she performed with in Salt Lake City as vocalist & violinist was Los Hellcaminos (Ray Rosales), playing Americana, Blues and Rock & Roll - before deciding to depart from working with full cover bands in order to focus on developing her original solo acoustic act.
...in venues, bars, restaurants & festivals throughout the Denver Metro Area (as well as Northern and Southern Colorado), Laurie Michelle has also established her own community-building showcase featuring local Colorado songwriters and art/clothing/jewelry vendors: The Monthly Songwriter Showcase (currently in residence at The Dairy Arts Center in Boulder, CO). She also organizes and hosts The Third Friday Open Mic at Sunroom Brewing in Englewood, CO.
